In
spite of their scary appearance, Ooga Boogas have been created to bring health and
good fortune into the home. Hand carved and
painted, each
five and a half foot staff is carved and indented to resemble a spinal
column. This solid wood Indonesian artifact is
traditionally placed facing a doorway or window.
Death, when passing by, sees the skull and is tricked into thinking he has already visited the house and continues on without stopping, thereby keeping sickness and death away from the home.
